Our God of Love . . . Not Anger

"He [God] is slow to get angry and full of kindness and love. He never . . . remains angry forever." ~ Psalm 103: 8b & 9b, TLB.

Does God ever get angry? Oh, yes, and the truth is, we give him plenty of reason. But he does not get angry the way we do. We may offend him---and badly, we may offend him---and often, but his love for us causes him to pause and recall that we are weak and prone to wrongdoing. He refuses to immediately flame up with anger. He slows his anger response and gives us time to change our ways. Not only that, if we don't and he finally does give way to anger, he does not remains angry forever. He is willing to put aside his anger and forgive us the moment we sincerely ask him. He is a God of love . . . not of anger.

No Grudges Here

"He [God] never bears a grudge." ~ Psalm 103:9a, TLB.

How easy it is to hold a grudge against someone who injures either us or someone we love! But did you know that God never holds grudges, no matter how much we offend him? Yes, when we do wrong, it hurts him and sometimes even angers him. Yet he harbors no feelings of resentment or ill will. Instead, knowing our weaknesses, he stands ready and eager to forgive. He is for us, forever holding out arms of forgiving love.

Our Hiding Place from Trouble

You [God] are my hiding place from every storm of life; you even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. ~ Psalm 32:7, TLB

When we turn to our loving God in faith, and ask him for protection, He hides us from the potential danger and envelops us with songs of victory. We do our part --- ask and then trust Him to deliver what He has promised --- and He is faithful to do His part.
